Hi Maria
I was just thinking that we haven't updated you on Dixie lately. She is doing very well,
she has graduated from her first puppy classes and we are going to start another one in
the middle of September. She is almost ready to get spayed, I just want to wait until all
of her adult teeth come in, in case she needs to get some of the baby teeth pulled. She is
teething right now and chewing on EVERYTHING! But what a smart little dog, and full of
energy. I was going to try her in agility, I think she would do well at it. Everyone she
has met has fallen in love with her, and she is such a friendly little dog. She has a
couple of kids that play with her every day and she looks forward to it. She isn't scared
of anything, which is good and bad! We are really enjoying her and are very impressed with
her temperament. She has come to Alberta in the airplane with us a couple of times, and
was very well behaved, she's a seasoned traveler already. If I decide to get another corgi
in the future, I will call you again. We have our hands full with this one, so it will be
in the far future! I have included some pictures of her, they are a month or so old.
Thought you would like to see them. Right now she is about 15lbs, and quite petite. Thanks
again for the wonderful little dog, we absolutely love her.

Hi Maria,
I'm sorry I haven't been in touch for a while, busy busy. Betty told me you wanted to hear
how we were doing and if we are showing. Keira went in her first show on Dec.
27 and 28th, 2007. We entered to get experience as it's been a while since I've
shown a dog, and Keira and I have been busy in obedience training so we hadn't done
as much show training as we should have. Anyway, unfortunately it turned
out there weren't any other Corgi's at this show but we went anyway as I wanted to
get her into a ring. Afterward I asked the Friday Judge what she had thought of her
and she said she was very feminine with a really pretty face, that when we walked away she
had a
great back end (she like her bum!!) she said she liked her length and body structure.
She did say that she was a little high in the back end right now but she
asked me her age and said that would likely change with growing and development.
Basically she said "I liked her"!
We are planning to get her in a couple
of more shows before she's a year and are concentrating on the show training. Ken
and I both started show handling classes this Monday with Keira and Caleigh and I'm sure
the extra advise and practice will have us feeling more comfortable next time.
Can't wait for the next show. I'll
keep you informed.

Maria,
Thought I would send a couple of pictures of Shylo and the family along.
What a great little dog he is. I call him our "Thief and Scoundrel". He's
either stealing something out from beneath you, or is tearing up the thing
he stole a couple of days ago.
He is all registered for the show in Lunenburg on June 7th and 8th. Canuck
Dogs has the Schedule out and if you look, we are the only Corgi there.
Probably good for the first time out. Shylo stacks naturally and I am
enforcing that with lots of hugs an kisses and a few treats along the way. I
have learned that he can sniff out a treat from 20ft back!!!
I had him at the vets last week. Guess his weight - 21 lbs. He is in really
good shape, no fat and really sturdy. He is certainly giving old Shay (Our
bernese) a run for the money!
This weekend I am bringing the two dogs to get their eyes tested, May 31. If
they tell me anything there, I will let you know that night. It's in Moncton
which is over 1 1/2 away.
Talk at ya later!!
Kelly
Hi Maria,
Nice to hear from you and CONGRATULATIONS DAISY!!!!!
Keira got another point today at the Scarborough Kennel Club All Breed Show
held in Orangeville. She now has a total of 7 points and I hope to finish
her this summer. She has had her eyes checked and is clear for 2008. I
have sent in her test for Type I Von Willebrand's (vWD) but have not
received the results yet. I will be having her hips
tested when she is 18 months old (in Sept).
I had her picture taken today as I said I would at the next show so I can
send you one. (I don't think it's great of her or mostly me, but I'll send
it as soon as I get it on the computer). I also took a couple of shots of
her on the grooming table recently but that's hard to do when you're alone
but I'll attach them.
Take care,
Wendy
Hi, I thought I would let you know
that we got the boy without any issues. He is absolutely adorable. He is
currently sleeping on a piled up huge fuzzy blanket. He had a busy and rough
day. After his flight he had a long car ride to see my in-laws then when we
got home he had a bunch of food, ran up and down the house chasing toys and
then the traumatizing experience of a bath. He is quite well behaved, we
were a little surprised that there was no whining or barking and really not
any fear. We are very pleased to add him to the family and look forward to
many years of happiness together. As a side note we have decided to name him
Apollo. He is already responding to it so it caught on quickly which is
good. Thank you again.

Hi Maria,
Just thought I would update you on this great little dog of ours:) She is
doing really well. The teeth are no longer an issue, she actually seems
quite a bit more comfortable now and no longer has the desire to chew
everything in sight. Ill send you some pictures of the result once I take
some, we have been pretty busy lately. Something about a new baby...:) I
took her to more training classes and she did really well. They were just an
add on of the ones we did before, it was pretty much a class for teenage
dogs. I signed the contract between us that states I wouldn't show her, and
don't want to, plus she is spayed so I cant anyways, but I was wondering if I
could still compete with her in things like herding or agility. I took her
to get assessed from a herding trainer and judge and Dixie did amazing! She
really has a talent for it. I don't want to breach the contract which is why
I'm asking you if it would be ok to pursue the herding and maybe see if she
could get some titles. Let me know if you are ok with it. I don't have to use
the registered name if you don't want me to, though its a cute name;) I
don't
even need to get the titles, I was more in it for the fun of it and so I
could do something with Dixie. She likes to be busy! How are things with
you? How are the dogs at your place doing? More pups on the way this year?
Not that we need another one right now, just curious! Hope to talk to you
soon.

HI Maria,
Just wanted to let you know that Foxy has made it! I have changed
her name to Piper! She is responding to it already! She is very
loveable that's for sure. She was quite a mess when she got off the
plane that's for sure. Her crate was full of pee and poop. But when I
got her home I gave her a bath and she has been fine since. She
spent her first night in her new home last night! I kept her in her
crate all night, she cried for about a half hour but then she was
fine. She is still discovering her new home but is adjusting well.
She is eating and drinking fine. I could not get the royal CANIN
medium puppy so I bought the mini. I am not sure if I am feeding her
enough and she seems to be looking for more. However I do not want to
over feed her either. Thanks Again! I am so in love with her! She is
already chasing me around the house. Scared of the stairs though!

Maria,
The weekend is over and Shylo did really good, but didn't place.
On Saturday I was so proud of him. He was attentitive, stacked and
held and walked around like he owned the place. I have to work on
strange people handling his face, but other than that, he was a
dream. Then today hit and he was a completely different dog.
No attention, wouldn't even bait with a treat, interested in the
other ring when we were walking around, etc, etc. I've put it down
to not being socialized enough and I am going to make an effort to
get him in populated areas every week, where we live in the country.
He really is a cutie and I got lots of good comments on him outside
the ring. We still have lots of time and we both did so much better
than the last show. That's my goal, to keep improving! I broke
down and placed Shay the Berner with professionals. I needed to
remove the unbalanced "Handler" issue and have the Judges look at
the dogs. He won 3 out of the four shows for Best in Breed!!
Although he never placed in Group, I am so proud of him. He now has
seven points towards his Championship and got the "Double Major"
needed today. So we will be off to the show in Moncton in
November and hopefully there will be Corgies there and we will
finish Shay!! It was a real good weekend all around.
